Stop Nickel and Diming Yourself and Save Money
I have a friend that was looking to save some extra money each month. I was looking at his lifestyle it was hard to see anything extravagant that he was spending his money on.
One day out of blue for some reason I noticed the coffee cups. They were in his garbage, in his car, on his tables and in his hand when I would see him. It dawned on me that he is probably nickel and diming himself each week. The worst part of it was that he didn't realize he was doing it.
There in lies the tip to start saving some money. First, you have to realize that your little daily or weekly expenses no matter how small add up. Second, pay attention to your daily spending habits and do the math to see how much these little expenses add up to over the course of a week or a month. Finally, see if you can do without these little expenses or make change to cut these down.
Still doesn't add up? Let's take the coffee habit as an example. Let's suppose that you are buying two coffees a day at the store at $2 a piece. That's $28 a week and $112 a month. Imagine what you can do with $112 a month. Okay, so you are not cutting coffee out completely but what about buying coffee in bulk and making your own in the morning and bringing a thermos on the road with you instead of stopping. Savings again.
Find a couple of these small expenditures and try to save on them and you will be on your way to saving money.
